Pink Moon Bar Asheville Review | Asheville’s Hidden Outdoor Bar
As soon as I found out there was a speakeasy in Asheville with bright pink glowing lights everywhere I knew I had to go. Our living room is typically glowing pink by choice via hue lights! Pink Moon Bar Asheville is a local favorite speakeasy that specializes in natural, organic wine, and requires a code to get in. We had a great time here so I decided to write a travel blog & full review here to share the love.
I’m not getting paid for this review, I just loved it and wanted to share for anyone visiting Asheville!
Please keep in mind that Asheville is healing from the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene. Before traveling, be mindful of whether the businesses you’re planning on visiting are open and ready for you. Pink Moon bar Asheville is regularly posting updates at their Instagram page.

Summary & Quick Review:
Pink Moon Bar is an Asheville speakeasy which is locally owned and operated by a passionate wine enthusiast that handpicks delicious organic wines on a rotating menu, along with beer and rail drinks. In true speakeasy fashion you’ll need a code to get in, which is fun and totally worth it. Unlike other speakeasy-like bars, Pink Moon Bar is outdoors, offering a unique atmosphere behind the Double Crown basking in a pink glow of their iconic pink moon light. Its one downfall is not having bathrooms, and having to go into the Double Crown to go instead.
Overall, Pink Moon Bar offers a relaxed and unique speakeasy experience that fits perfectly with the character of its NC mountain town. Asheville is lucky to have this hidden gem.
Long Review of Pink Moon Bar Asheville
I stumbled upon Pink Moon Bar Asheville sometime on Reddit when I was doing a little research for our upcoming month-long stay in the area, where Reddit users were describing it as a great hidden spot with organic wine plus beer and cocktails. Yes please!
Pink Moon Bar isn’t your average speakeasy. Instead of the more polished, high-end vibe of most speakeasy-style bars I know of, this is a rustic outdoor bar under the trees. Because it’s an outdoor bar, Pink Moon is only open during the warmer months and during good weather. You can find out whether the bar will be open on any given day by checking the Pink Moon Instagram account for opening hours.
How to Find Pink Moon Bar
Pink Moon is a true Asheville speakeasy where you’ll have to try *a little bit* to get in. Head to the Double Crown in West Asheville, which is a really great spot itself. Consider grabbing a beer there first to check out all of the funky decor inside. There’s no parking lot, but there is plenty of street parking if you’re coming with a DD.
To find the Pink Moon Bar, go around back of the Double Crown to find the door with a pink light glowing on top of it.
To open the door you’ll need to punch in a code, which is posted to the story on the Pink Moon Bar Asheville Instagram account. There you can also confirm they’re open because they won’t open if it’s rainy or stormy.
A Pink Glow and A Great Vibe
The first thing you notice when you get in is the really magical atmosphere of the space with chill music, bohemian decor, candles on tables and of course the pink glow coming off of the pink moon behind the bar. There are tables you can sit at plus high tops at the bar.
The last time we went around 8:00 on a Friday and were seated at a table within a few minutes after one group got up, where they served us chilled water which was a really nice tough. You should be able to find somewhere to sit BUT this bar has been growing in popularity, so if you really want a table, aim to get there earlier rather than later on a weekend or during the week.
Extensive Wine List & Great Menu
Now for the important stuff! The thing that makes Pink Moon Bar Asheville so unique is that the owners are very passionate about natural and organic wine, and the rotating wine menu is handpicked featuring a wide variety of international and domestic reds and whites. This is a place to go to feel good!
You’ll see an example of their menu one night, which changes daily, below. Sometimes the daily menu will be posted to the Instagram story.
They also sell beer as well as cocktails and rail drinks, all at reasonable prices unlike some speakeasies. Keep in mind that there are no bathrooms and you’ll have to pop into the Double Crown to go instead, which is their one downfall in my opinion, but no big deal.
Overall Pink Moon Bar Asheville is a must-visit spot for anyone in the area who likes organic wine, novelty and a great outdoor bar. If you’re ready to explore more of the Asheville speakeasy scene, read the full guide on my travel blog to find the others and see which one is your favorite!
