The Mexico City airport is one of the best rated airports in the world, and with that many flights come a lot of people with layovers. The MEX airport is massive and it can take a long time to walk through, which is why I recommend always staying at the airport itself versus in the city unless you have a layover that is over 24 hours long.

Luckily there are a bunch of great Mexico City airport hotels with convenient access to the airport, either by walking or a short shuttle ride. The hotels I’ve gathered in this blog are the best options within quick proximity of the airport, based on my experience and reviews across a bunch of sites.

Use my Mexico City Airport Hotels Map to see where each hotel is compared to the rest of the airport.

You can also use this interactive map on the MEX airport to explore the airport, although I don’t think they have the hotels listed at the moment. I found it really hard to get around the airport in general compared to airports in the US, so these maps are really important to save and understand.

Best Mexico City Airport Hotels in Terminal 1

IzZzleep Aeropuerto Terminal 1 Sleeping Pods & Capsule Hotel

Price: $

My #1 choice for a Mexico City airport hotel on a budget during your layover is the IzZzleep Terminal 1 Capsule Hotel. If you haven’t stayed in a pod hotel yet, it’s basically a large pod or capsule you’re renting as opposed to a whole room, which saves you money on your stay. I’ve written a whole blog post on the pros and cons of capsule hotels in case you want to learn more about these.

Even if you’re mildly claustrophobic, I definitely recommend giving one of these pods a try. I’m claustrophobic in general, but thanks to being petite and there being plenty of air flow in the pods, I was completely fine and actually loved it.

Along with your locking capsule, you’ll get access to a fairly large locker and the shared bathrooms. It’s in a super convenient location next to the Courtyard Marriott in Terminal 1. I did have a hard time finding it, but that’s just because the MEX airport is huge.

You also have the choice of booking a capsule for less than a full night sometimes for a day room, which you can check with the front desk about either in person or by calling them.

Alo Mexico

Price: $

If you aren’t liking the sound of the IzZzleep Capsule Hotels, Alo Mexico is a great choice for a budget stay. Don’t expect anything fancy – it’s more hostel-style with shared bathrooms and very basic rooms.

Fiesta Inn Aeropuerto CD Mexico – Best Mexico City Airport Hotel With Kids

Price: $$

The Fiesta Inn is the next cheapest Mexico City airport hotel on this list. If you need a room with a private bathroom for a great price, this is the best hotel choice for you. It’s also the best option on the list for families with kids because there’s a small outdoor pool.

A sunny and clean pool and courtyard area at the Fiesta Inn

The Fiesta Inn is conveniently located right across from the center of Terminal 1 and has a fitness center and 24-hour shuttles as long as you let them know ahead of time that you’ll need a ride.

Overall, this is a no frills and not as good of reviews as compared to some of the other midrange hotels, but a good choice on a budget or with kids who can to let out some energy at the pool.

Camino Real Mexico City Airport

Price: $$

Camino Real is connected to the airport directly via pedestrian bridge and offers rooms for a moderate price. There’s a kind of weird above ground indoor pool which would be great for young kids, plus a fitness center, on site restaurant and lounge, and 24-hour room service.

Guests especially love the really convenient location and say there’s less of a walk involved in comparison to some of the other airport hotels since it’s right in the middle of terminal 1!

Courtyard Marriott Mexico City Airport

Price: $$

The Courtyard Marriott Mexico City airport is definitely my first choice for the best of the Mexico City airport hotels overall. It has direct access to the airport with excellent reviews and all the conveniences you might need, especially if you’re departing from Terminal 1.

This specific hotel also often allows guests to check in for day rooms, which means to use the room for a half day instead of a full night for a cheaper rate, which is perfect for a day-long layover. If you’d like to book a day room you can contact the hotel directly here!

You can’t really go wrong with this hotel. Amenities include confirmed strong free WIFI, a gym, really nice atrium and lounge areas, bar and restaurant, breakfast, and shuttle service to Terminal 2 in case you need it.

Hilton Mexico City Airport

Price: $$$

The Hilton Mexico City airport is in a very convenient location right within Terminal 1, but it gets very mixed reviews and may be in need of some sort of renovations. Because of this, if you have Hilton Reward points you need to spend or strictly prefer to stay with Hilton go for it and you will have a fine stay. They do have 24/7 room service, so if this is something you’re looking for during your long layover, the Hilton is a great choice!

If you’re between the Hilton and Courtyard, I would definitely choose the Courtyard Marriott instead. They are comparable in price and the Hilton even seems to be a bit more expensive.

We Hotel Aeropuerto – Best Romantic Mexico City Airport Hotel

Price: $$

If you have a little bit of time on a layover, consider staying at the We Hotel and reserving the Master Suite which has an in-room jacuzzi and shower with dual shower heads. This is a great choice for couples but also just for anyone who may need a little rest and rejuvenation at the end of a long travel day.

An in-room jacuzzi tub big enough for two people at the We Hotel, making it my top choice of the Mexico City Airport hotels for couples who need some rest & relaxation

Outside of these special rooms the We Hotel has great rates and a fitness center. You can get to the airport via the skyway or the free hotel shuttle.

IzZzleep Aeropuerto Terminal 2 Capsule Hotel

Price: $

There is also a IzZzleep Terminal 2 Capsule Hotel and from the photos and website description, it looks like it’s pretty much identical. You can expect the same.

You can also read more about the IzZzleep Aeropuerto Terminal 1 Sleeping Pods at my full review blog post. I love them!

NH Collection Mexico City Airport

Price: $$

The NH Collection hotel is the best choice of the moderately-priced Mexico City airport hotels with easy access to Terminal 2, which is just an elevator ride away. This hotel has an onsite fitness center, restaurant and bar with 24-hour room service, a shuttle and sound proof rooms. Some of the rooms even look out onto the runways!

Two beds in a room at the NH Collection hotel, with modern decor and back lighting to show it's a nice, more luxurious hotel

Guests say they have been able to secure a day room here, so if you could use a hotel reservation for less than 24 hours for a cheaper rate, you can contact the NH Collection hotel directly.

A note on the WIFI at NH Collection: If you’re absolutely in need of WIFI, like if you’re going to need to work during your overnight stay, I would consider checking with the hotel directly about their WiFi status prior to booking or staying at the Courtyard Marriott instead in Termimal 1 and utilizing their free shuttle as I read a few places that some visitors had trouble with WIFI.
