How Many Days For Your Ibiza Itinerary Is Enough?

A long weekend in Ibiza is the perfect amount of time to party all you want without burning out, and still getting to enjoy some of the island. That being said, keep in mind Sunday is one of Ibiza’s best nights of parties and Thursday is great too, so arriving Thursday and departing Monday would be the best.

if you’re coming from the US or anywhere far from Ibiza, you’ll probably want to spend more time in Europe to make the long flight worth it. You could easily spend a week in Ibiza without getting bored, if not two! Perhaps you could do a few days partying and then move to a different resort for a few days of rest and rejuvenation? So in the end I would say anywhere from five days and four nights to two weeks would be ideal, but even a night in Ibiza could be worth it.

When to Visit Ibiza

Ibiza is known to have two very specific seasons. The high season is some time in May to some time in October, and this is when everything will be open, the world famous DJs play weekly residencies and the weather is most beautiful. Outside of the high season there are locals who live on the island, but your experience would be very different. In general, all my blogs on Ibiza travel are assuming you’re going to the island during the summer.

Budgeting For Your Ibiza Itinerary

One of the most important things to consider before starting to plan your Ibiza itinerary is asking yourself what budget you can afford for the trip. While Ibiza is known to be pricy, there are ways to make your trip affordable and fun.

If you’re ready to splurge there are certainly lots of options for how to spend a good amount, from VIP experiences to stage view hotel rooms and world-class artists. Once you decide on a budget you can find a hotel that fits, and pick your club tickets and excursions based on that budget

What Do You Want to Do On Your Ibiza Vacation – Party, Relaxation or Both?

When planning your Ibiza itinerary the first thing to think about is what you want to do while you’re on the island. Although Ibiza is the best place in the world for partying in paradise with world-class parties going on every day of the week, there’s SO much more to Ibiza than partying. This is something a lot of people don’t realize. Perhaps visit for a few days of partying and then a few days of scenic beaches and hippie markets.

If you want to see the best of what the island offers you want to experience the world-class parties and Ibiza club nights, hippie markets and art trade where the locals are, the beautiful Old Town of Ibiza alongside Dalt Vila, and last but not least the stunning natural beauty of the limestone cliffs and clear water beaches.

Most people will visit for either a party trip or a mix of these elements, but since the island is actually pretty large, you’ll want to plan your trip around which activities are most important to you. No matter where you stay you’ll have a fantastic time.

If you want to party in Ibiza

If you’re coming to Ibiza to primarily party, next you’ll need to decide if there are specific DJs, parties and/or venues you want to see, as each has something different each day of the week along with some days certain venues are closed. It’s recommended to get tickets ahead of time, at least a few days ahead in order to secure the cheapest possible ticket online and make sure events aren’t sold out, which is another reason planning your Ibiza itinerary ahead of time is smart.

Check out my blog and map of the best clubs in Ibiza so you can see how they’re spread out throughout the island, concentrated most in Ibiza Town, Playa d’en Bossa and San Antonio. You can also check out the Ibiza Spotlight party calendar for a full list of parties for the dates you’re looking at.

Depending on where the Ibiza club nights are on the island that you’re hoping to attend, it may make more sense to stay on one side or the other. If they’re scattered, that’s no problem and that’s what the Ibiza disco bus is for, which goes from club to club around the island until the wee hours of the morning in the summer season.

Keep in mind there are a few hotels on the island where are home to the biggest venues and parties, for example Ushuaia Hotel and Ibiza Rocks Hotel. If you have the budget for it, staying at either of these hotels will be super convenient and mean you get free admission to each of their daily parties, and that you’ll save tons of time not having to go far for every party. This is what I plan on doing next time I visit Ibiza!

There’s of course also plenty of bars and lower-key drinking spots outside of the clubs and wild parties. If this is more your speed, make sure to check out my guide to the best Ibiza bars and drinking spots on the island outside of the clubs.

If you’re hoping to experience Ibiza outside of the parties

If you’re coming to Ibiza for reasons other than to party, planning your Ibiza Itinerary won’t matter quite as much but it’s still a good idea so that you can stay near what you want to see if possible.

If history is important to you and/or your group, you don’t want to miss Dalt Vila in Ibiza Town. Beach lovers coming to Ibiza have their choice of awesome beaches scattered along the coast of the island, and then there are the hippy markets, dozens and dozens of little restaurants and bars, luxury resorts, street performers, water sports, boating, great cuisine and live music.

Tours and Excursions

GetYourGuide has tons of options for great tours on the island. Often times your accommodation will also be able to help you book tours or private drivers to different areas of the island. There are also lots of stalls and storefronts where you can book tours, especially at the Sant Antoni de Portmany.

For adventure lovers, make sure to try and find a tour to see the beautiful Es Vedra islet and do some watersports. Formentera is a stunning tropical island which is reachable by day trip or you can even stay on Formentera.

Best Area to Stay In Ibiza Based On Your Plans

Where to stay in Ibiza will depend on what you want to do on your vacation. If your Ibiza itinerary includes a lot of parties, either Ibiza Town or San Antonio is the best choice. If you’re hoping for relaxation and a quiet vacation, Santa Eulalia, Es Cana or Cala Llonga are great spots to visit.
